Course Description

Counseling Residency II: Orientation to Clinical Practice and Intermediate Clinical Skills Development. This course provides an intensive class for students preparing students for key experiences orienting towards their second year of courses and field experiences. Core counseling concepts and integration of past, present, and future course essentials are reviewed, introduced, exercised, and assessed. Intermediate counseling skills development including enhancement of basic counseling skills, suicide assessment, and planning skills are practiced and assessed. Clinical interview skills and appraisal techniques are introduced and assessed. A repeat of CSL 582 may be required if the student is unable to complete CSL 514 - Counseling Practicum within the standard course progression.Notes: Students must bring their own video recording equipment.
